Founder of The Dawn Project Dan O’Dowd comments on NHTSA’s investigation into Tesla’s deployment of its Cybercab vehicles just one day after the driverless, steering-wheel-free robotaxis debuted on public roads.

Dan O’Dowd commented: “Tesla has a long history of ignoring regulatory authorities,” said Dan O’Dowd, founder of The Dawn Project. The group is highly critical of Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self Driving features, based on testing its done for years. “Musk considers government regulations as just recommendations, not laws that need to be followed.”
“Tesla’s self-driving software is nowhere near the safety level required to operate without manual controls,” he said.
