The Dawn Project’s safety testing of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving v13.2.8 software shows that it will still commit egregious driving errors which endanger road users, despite warning about these issues for years.

The Dawn Project’s testing was conducted in a controlled environment around Santa Barbara, using the latest version of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving, and found that the system is still unable to complete basic maneuvers and will still endanger road users.

During a 1 hour and 20 minutes test drive around Santa Barbara, Tesla committed a total of 9 errors, forcing the test driver to take over to avoid an incident.

When retesting the route to see whether the errors we had found had been corrected, v13.2.8 committed a total of 18 driving errors, with 7 safety critical errors.

Despite Tesla releasing an update which allowed FSD to do a U-Turn, The Dawn Project’s testing has found that FSD is unable to complete these U-Turns, leaving drivers in vulnerable positions.

Tesla’s v13.2.8 software is still unable to drive in direct sunlight, instead giving up, and forcing the driver to take over.

How can Elon Musk claim that this software is robotaxi ready, when it cannot even drive itself in sunny conditions?
