The Dawn Project’s recent testing has shown that Tesla’s Driver Monitoring System will still fail to detect when the driver is not paying attention.
In 2024, The Dawn Project demonstrated that Tesla’s Driver Monitoring System was unable to identify when a driver was asleep at the wheel, or when there was no one present at the wheel, and failed to shut off its Full Self-Driving software.
After Tesla fans attacked The Dawn Project’s testing, claiming that this was due to the car being a Hardware 3 model, The Dawn Project tested a Tesla with Hardware 4, and found that the system was still unable to detect when a driver was asleep at the wheel or not paying attention to the road.
Tesla is putting lives at risk by failing to update its system to correctly identify when a driver is not paying attention to the road.
