In November 2017, Elon Musk unveiled the new Tesla Roadster, claiming that it would accelerate from zero to 60 in 1.9 seconds and the top speed would be over 250 miles per hour. At the end of the demonstration, he claimed the Roadster would be available in 2020.
Musk and Tesla took millions of dollars in deposits, but customers who put down up to $250,000 haven’t even seen a production design!

I am concerned by Tesla’s deployment of its experimental self-driving software on public roads. I note that data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that this technology has been implicated in over 1,000 crashes, dozens of which have been fatal. I urge you to act by calling for more stringent regulation of Tesla’s self-driving software. Tesla escapes the regulatory scrutiny we rightly place on other self-driving cars. I call on you to address this issue by demanding that Tesla is held to the same standards we demand of other self-driving vehicles.
