Founder of The Dawn Project Dan O’Dowd discussed Waymo’s expansion and Tesla’s lack of an autonomous robotaxi service in GB News.

Dan O’Dowd commented: “Waymo is expanding across the US and around the world. Uber’s CEO said recently that Waymo’s AVs complete more daily rides than 99% of human drivers. Waymo markets its AVs as safer than a human driver and safety conscious consumers may favour it over traditional taxi services.
“Waymo is quickly monopolising the robotaxi market in major taxi markets across the US and has already begun testing its robotaxis in other countries such as the UK and Japan.
“Waymo’s prospects are looking good, its robotaxis are safer than a human driver and are able to work more hours than a human driver.
“Uber and Lyft drivers are safe from Tesla robotaxis taking their jobs because, despite a decade of Elon Musk claiming that autonomous Tesla robotaxis are less than a year away, Tesla still doesn’t have a working product. All of Tesla’s so-called robotaxis require a human supervisor ready to stop it from crashing at a moment’s notice.”
