Founder of The Dawn Project Dan O’Dowd comments on Tesla Full Self-Driving’s approval in the Netherlands in TechRadar.

Dan O’Dowd commented: “The RDW’s decision is deeply troubling given Tesla FSD’s myriad of well-documented safety defects.
“59 people have been killed in over 3,000 crashes involving Tesla’s self-driving software in the U.S. since 2021 alone.
“The versions of FSD currently on the road in the U.S. will run red lights, drive onto active train tracks, blow past school buses with their stop signs out, ignore ‘Do Not Enter’ and ‘Road Closed’ signs, and speed in school zones.
“Self-driving software that breaks the law and endangers road users has no place on public roads in the Netherlands, or any country.
“Tesla’s own data demonstrates that its ‘Robotaxi’ service in Austin, which runs on the company’s self-driving software and features trained safety monitors inside the cars, crashes 4x more often than the average human driver.
“Regulators must mandate that Tesla fix FSD’s safety-critical defects prior to authorization for public use. Public safety demands it.”
